Meet Kris Nation

We are excited to introduce you to our new Communications and Events Director, Kris Nation! He starts Monday, May 16 and is planning to ramp up our communications and events to a whole new level! Join us Friday, May 20 at the YAR office to meet him and other new agents and staff at the YAR Meet and Greet event!

His Bio

Kris Nation is an Emmy winning news broadcaster and meteorologist who has worked for news outlets in New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Oregon and Idaho. He served as the chief meteorologist in Eugene, OR, Grand Junction, CO, and is leaving KPVI in Pocatello, ID to join our Association. He has also collaborated on episodes of Storm Chasers for the Discovery Channel and planned events for over 10,000 people, most notably the American Idol auditions in Texas.


He was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM and began his college career at Eastern New Mexico University. While attending college, he joined KENW TV - 3 and News 3 New Mexico, the leading PBS affiliate in Eastern New Mexico. There, he was a reporter and photographer, but soon moved to weather.


He graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with a B.A. in Communications & B.A in America History. He also completed a B.S. in Atmospheric Science with Mississippi State University & B.S. in Geology from the OSU, and finally his Masters in Communication from Eastern New Mexico University. His love for the Pacific Northwest has never faltered and he is proud to step forward into this new adventure in a brand-new exciting role in Yakima, Washington!
